Embossing seal for notaries and companies

Learn about an embossing seal. While Self-Inking Stamps makes actual rubber stamp ink seals for a company seal, we can also make an embossing seal as well.

This special embossing seal tool presses into the paper and pushes up a pattern thereby embossed into the surface. While a common use is for a company seal it is useful for another document marking and decorating.

These embossing marks offer a greater level of security for official documents as witnessed by Notary Public. Adding that personal touch to wedding invitations is quick and easy. Or maybe to embellish an award for someone who has reached that important target.

Whichever purpose you have for your mark the Trodat Ideal Seal embosser could be what you have been looking for. This small handheld embossing seal press is great for marking paper.

Trodat Ideal Seal Embosser

  • Suited to Notary Public embossing
  • Custom made embossing press
  • 51mm diameter image size
  • Additional die holders available

When not in use the special two-piece die set is stored inside the handle. This makes it very small and thin and easy to carry. So small it could fit in your pocket. Just slide that die piece out, pop it in the jaw area and click to lock into place and you are ready to go. From a small size easily stored in a pocket this convenient little press is ready in a matter of seconds.

Slide your paper into the jaw area and then squeeze to make the mark. You can just use one hand to squeeze the handles together or place on a strong surface and lean down on the top handle to press it into the paper. There you have it; the mark is made on the paper for you.

That mark you are making is fully customisable for you. These embossing seals are available in three different sizes and shapes to suit your image.

There are two round shapes of 41mm diameter and 51mm diameter.

Plus, a 51 x 25mm rectangular one as well.

ANY shape image is possible within those shapes and sizes. They do not have to be just round or just rectangular.

For these areas the custom-made seal is designed and then laser engraved from a high density Delrin plastic. These matching die pairs are engraved with very fine tolerances. This allows a crisp image to be pushed into the paper. There are three different space settings which can be manufactured into the matching pair to allow for just paper or with the addition of a foil sticker. This needs to be planned in before manufacture to ensure there is enough space between the two pieces of the die to fit the paper and if there is foil into that tiny gap. With the gap at the proper size the image can be much clearer when pushed into the moulded shape properly.

The design for your embossing needs to be carefully produced. Remember this is still a very small area. Don’t let fonts get too small or they will fail to imprint into the material. Or they might tear the paper if forcing it to bend too extremely. Clarity of your image is paramount. Simple designs are always better than very intense images when embossing.

The best image for us to use is a vector image from a graphic design programme like Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or what we use here being CorelDRAW (.cdr). A .svg file often is good. And pdf files upload on the website nicely with a vector image or a bitmap image (pixel based).

For bitmap files like jpeg or png try to get the dots per inch (dpi) above 300 for a great image conversion to vector for engraving. Images off your email footer or a Word document are often minimised to the bare minimum to be quick to email. These are often at 72 dpi. These images have some nasty pixelation in them and can show when used to engrave into the embossing die.

Once we have manufactured the pair of die, we mount them in the press holder and test them. If there is any imperfections or areas that do not mark clearly, we will modify the image to get this right and do it again. If we are unhappy with the image when used, we will communicate with you and make suggestions before shipping to you. Once it passes our testing quality control it is then passed on to packing for delivery to you.

While embossing is a raised texture coming out of the surface the opposite is debossing. This technique pushes into the surface leaving a mark into the material being marked. Laser engraved Delrin plastic can also be used to create this effect with a heavy duty press into leather to create some stunning effects. The Delrin is engraved in reverse like our stamps.

Then placed on the leather and with a high pressure pushed into the surface to make the mark. For small images a block of wood and a hammer could be used. This sort of impact will shorten the life of the die. Best option is a press of some sort to push the die into the surface of the material. Just ask us if this might be of interest to you.
