After 13 wonderful years in Huapai, Auckland, Self-Inking Stamps Limited has relocated to 253 Rehutai Road, Baylys Beach, Dargaville. We’re excited to share this next chapter of our journey with you, and yes, we’re still making stamps and engraving full-time sending your orders Monday to Friday!

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to announce this one in time due to our relocation, so we’re sharing it now.
Stamp marks can sometimes show mottling, especially when a broad area of ink is applied. This effect can occasionally be seen as a flaw, but just as often, it’s a feature. In this case, it worked beautifully. On our proof sheet, the tree trunk displayed a mottled texture that was fantastic, it added a complementary detail that mimicked the rough surface of bark and really drew the eye.
It’s a graphic effect that’s difficult to reproduce in a design, but the stamp itself, and the way it lays down the ink, achieved it naturally and effectively. Congratulations to Hayley, the winner of May’s Stamp of the Month, for this traditionally styled custom hand stamp, designed for use with a separate ink pad. A simple concept, expertly executed.
And for the June Winner, Karen won the gong. Initially we said no the image is not good enough to produce a good stamp from. With a bit of time invested it was cleaned up to make a great stamp mark.
Little did we know then that this multi-colour stamp was the stand out for the month. It is on the largest of the self-inking stamps and is a big image.
Perfect for brand awareness on bags and other stationery with all the colours really making it pop. The Trodat 5212 model really has a lot of space to make great images with.
We used the largest multi colour self-inking stamp here =>
Relocating was no small task. We were hit with a dose of the notorious Wellington flu right in the middle of it all, which, while great for losing 5kg in a week, made the process even tougher.
To top it off, our new location brought unexpected electrical issues. Under-voltage problems damaged the power supply in our beloved laser engraving machine. Just when we got back to production, another power surge took it out completely.
Despite these setbacks, our plan to close on May 19 and reopen on June 3 mostly held. It took a few extra days to get Starlink internet online, and our power upgrades took longer than expected. We know this caused delays in fulfilling your orders, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.
We’re incredibly grateful for the help of a fellow stamp maker who stepped in to help keep your orders moving while we sorted the power situation. And to you, our customers, thank you. Your understanding and kind messages have been humbling and deeply appreciated. We truly feel fortunate to be supported by such an amazing community across New Zealand.
For those of you who’ve been following our move, you’ve already seen glimpses of our new property. One of our top priorities was to have beautiful sunsets and sunrises, and this place delivers both, spectacularly.
Last night, after finishing up in the office, we were stopped in our tracks. No noise, no cars, just birdsong, a crisp atmosphere, and jaw-dropping colour in the sky. Moments like these remind us how lucky we are.
Each morning, we watch the sunrise over Maungatapere, 42 km across the valley. It’s the perfect setting to start the day with fresh air and a bit of exercise. Several of you have said you might just come by to enjoy the view with us, and maybe sample some beef too!
It might seem unusual for a stamp business to operate from a 13-hectare farmlet, but this setup lets us combine our passion for engraving with our love for the land. While small-scale farming isn’t profitable on its own, stamp-making lets us make it work.
We’re also committed to sustainability. For example, we’re recycling cardboard shipping boxes into worm food, and those castings are now supporting food production on a larger scale.
Looking ahead, we plan to produce high-quality meat and fresh produce using regenerative agriculture. If you’re interested, we hope to offer some of our beef within a year.
We’re thrilled to say we’re back in full production. Orders are going out daily, bright and early now instead of later in the day.
Here’s what we’re shipping:
We’ve also started engraving hardwood offcuts and reclaimed clear pine, saved from factory waste and stored in one of our new sheds.
And yes, rotary engraving is back! Just yesterday, we sent out a custom-engraved beer handle for a 21st birthday, complete with an engraved ute and message.
Whether you need one stamp or 1,000 valve tags (like the order we shipped this morning), we’ve got you covered.
With more space in our new setup, we’re preparing to launch a new range of laser-engraved products. We’re not quite ready to reveal the details yet, but stay tuned, news will drop in a future newsletter once we’re settled and fully focused on meeting your current needs.
We were initially concerned that rural delivery might slow things down, but the results have been excellent.
That’s next-working-day delivery from one rural address to another, can’t ask for better than that!
Our local NZ Post rural agents, Leanne and Graeme, have been fantastic, showing up early each day to collect everything produced the day before.
On average, please allow up to 4 working days from the time you place your order to when you receive it, particularly for smaller parcels. Larger boxes may take an extra 1–2 working days, especially for bulk orders. Deliveries to the South Island may take approximately 2 additional days for larger parcels and boxes.
Now that we’re up and running (and finally done gazing at the view, well, mostly), we’re focused on helping you with your orders and shipping them out fast.

This is a brilliant company with fabulous customer service. I ordered stamps for my law practice at 230 pm on a Monday afternoon, they were shipped within an hour and arrived the next day to a rural regional address. Fabulously fast, great communication and the product was reasonably priced and in perfect order. Impressed and highly recommend.

Wow what a great company. The whole process of getting a special stamp made couldn’t have been easier. Super happy with the end product and the speed with which it arrived to our rural location was very impressive. I can’t recommend self-inking stamps highly enough!
