The Red Dot Design Award is divided into three disciplines in order to accommodate the variety that falls under design: Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is one of the largest design competitions in the world. It was started in 1955 when a jury was convened to evaluate the best designs at the time. In the 1990s, the Red Dot CEO Prof. Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. The coveted Red Dot Award is now an internationally regarded seal for outstanding design quality.
